After 4 months of not posting anything at all, I feel like coming back. Perhaps I’ll write a little something everyday, not that I have anything too terribly interesting to say or anything.
But, let’s kick it off today. I’ll go ahead and summarize my last four months.
I was accepted to, but declined, study abroad in Brazil this summer. As badly as I wanted to go, and as much as I love learning Portuguese, I felt as if I needed to stay here this summer. Quite a few people judged me for passing up such a great opportunity but I know I’ll go someday maybe even next year.
I say maybe next year because I finally decided what I want to do with my life post-graduation. I love my major but if I go to grad school for Linguistics I’ll end up doing research which I do not want. So I decided to just let things be for a while, for the first time in my life I was going to follow my mothers advice and “Let things figure themselves out”. and they did. I’ve decided to teach English as a second language. After graduation I plan on teaching English in another country for a year before going to grad school for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. This is perfect because just about every school needs this type of teacher, which means I can move anywhere I want. That is something that’s very important to me. I don’t enjoy staying in one place more than a few years or doing the same thing repeatedly and luckily my college career is almost over because the need to move is creeping in.
What else is new?
Well, for the past year I have been a member of SUA on the Comedy and Music committee and I loved it. I loved helping with the shows we put on, and bringing the comedians that we had but then we had to switch it up. I landed in the Films and Media committee, something I knew nothing about. Then we decided to add The Culinary Committee. SUA asked for applications for coordinators and assistant coordinators, I applied and interviewed, and I’m now the first ever assistant coordinator to the Culinary Committee. I’m ecstatic. I cannot wait to start working on our events for next year.
and finally, the last bit of news from the past few months. Today I received an email saying that I had been voted the Publicity Coordinator of The Jayhawker Towers Tenant Association, which is pretty stinkin’ exciting too.
We’ll see if this blogging thing continues or if I end up just reblogging as usual.
